Present Perfect Simple vs Past Simple

Exercise 1
Put the verb into the correct form, present perfect or past simple.

Określenia "When ...?" i "How long ...?" - zastosowanie

Określenie "When ...?" używamy w połączeniu z czasem Past Simple.

Określenie "How long ...?" używamy w połączniu z czasem Present Perfect.

np.:

A: When did it start raining?

B: It started raining an hour ago / at 1 o'clock.


A: How long has it been raining?

B: It's been raining for an hour / since 1 o'clock.

Określenia "for" i "since" - zastosowanie

 Określeń since i for używamy, gdy chcemy określić od kiedy coś się dzieje, jednakże:

- since używamy wtedy, gdy chcemy powiedzieć od jakiego punktu w przeszłości dana czynność się zaczęła, np.: od 8:00 (since 8 o'clock)

- for używamy, gdy chcemy powiedzieć od jakiego czasu z przeszłości dana czynność się dzieje, np.: od dwóch godzin (for 2 hours)
